The US Army records found no evidence to support Ferdinand E. Marcos' claims that he led Ang Mga Maharlika military operations against Japanese forces from 1942 to 1944. Instead, the Army dismissed the claim as "fraudulent" and "absurd." Furthermore, according to The National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Marcos Sr. did not receive three medals, including the DSC, Silver Heart, and Purple Heart, while serving as Major-ranked military personnel.
