DAVAO CITY Oct. 12 (PIA) - Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has regulated some more the compliance of health protocols under the modified general community quarantine by issuing Executive Order No. 55 which re-imposes the curfew and the liquor ban from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am the next day effective 12:00 noon on October 15 to December 31, 2020.
She said the new measure is based on the latest interview conducted on the latest COVID-19 positive persons and the Southern Philippine Medical Center staff which experiences a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Duterte-Carpio asserted that the measure is also in support to the Davao City Police Office which has to balance the COVID-19 infection in its ranks and its capability to respond to criminal incidents.
She stressed the city also needs to manage itself from any act of terror.
“Infection happens when people don’t wear masks, and do not practice social distancing and there are families which are really infected. Never take off your masks, practice social distancing at least one meter, and wash hands frequently with soap and water,” Duterte-Carpio said.
She encouraged the residents to bring their ID and business permits which can be presented to authorities whenever they demand double-checking the identities of persons.
Duterte-Carpio said passengers going out of the airport may show their plane ticket especially if they arrived within the curfew duration.
She bared that the Roxas Night Market will remain open for two hours from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm only.
Duterte-Carpio also stressed that parties are not appropriate, citing that mass gatherings are the super spreader nowadays.
“Now is the time of empathy and mourning for those love ones who departed because of COVID 19 and for the health workers who keep watch on the sick in the hospitals,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio pointed out that according to the doctors wearing of masks, physical distancing, washing of hands with soap and water, and staying home when there are no essential activity outside the residence are effective against COVID-19 infection. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
