ILOILO CITY, Oct. 29 (PIA) --- Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said he is thankful that Iloilo City remains an attractive investment destination despite the pandemic due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a press conference, Treñas said he is looking forward to the employment opportunities that global technology support firm, Asurion, will bring to this metropolis.
“I have always thought that the city government should always do its best to attract investments so that we could provide employment for our graduates,” he said.
With Asurion set to expand operations in Iloilo City and responding to the growing consumer demand on technical support for phones and smart home devices, some 1,200 jobs will be available for the Ilonggos.
Gareth Boulton, Asurion director of care operations in the Philippines, said they have been searching for a new site after deciding to expand from their current base in Luzon, since last year.
“It is very important that if we have a big organization to have a family environment and when we were here in Iloilo, we met amazing people that connected and built relationships,” he said.
He said the company will be situated at the 76,000-square-foot new office space at the Two Fintech Place, inside Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park.
Likewise, the location provides additional office space to accommodate future growth.
Boulton added that the company will bring in 1,200 full-time jobs for technical support customer care representatives, as well as other employment opportunities for human resources, operations, training and support positions. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
