KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province, Oct. 21 (PIA)-- The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) here ensures the security of vaccination teams to be deployed for the conduct of the measles-rubella immunization.
IPHO head Dr. Eva Rabaya said they have closely coordinated not only with the local government units but also with the community leaders for the implementation of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MRSIA) on October 26 to November 25, 2020.
“We coordinate with the barangay council, the leaders in the community to provide us with a safe area to conduct the immunization activities. We go there, we coordinate, we have our courtesy to the mayor and the barangay leaders because we also want a safe area for the vaccinators,” Rabaya said, adding that there will be members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team and police personnel who will accompany health providers assigned in far-flung and conflict-affected areas.
The MRSIA will be conducted in fixed posts and temporary posts.
Fixed posts are rural or city health centers, barangay health stations, and private clinics or outpatient department of hospitals while temporary posts include community centers, basketball courts, or any strategic locations that are well-ventilated and spacious enough to allow physical distancing and crowd control.
Expanded Program on Immunization coordinator Dr. Edvir Jane Montañer of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development XII emphasized that there will be no house-to-house administration of the vaccine. Also, she said triaging or screening of children as well as parents will be done prior to vaccination. This is to ensure that there will be no local transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019.
