BORONGAN CITY, Oct. 9 (PIA) --The Department of Labor and Employment – Eastern Samar Field Office (DOLE-ESFO) granted P520,624 livelihood assistance to Dao Rice Farmers Development Association (DARIFADA) on October 6, 2020 in Barangay Dao, Oras, Eastern Samar.
According to Engr. Aleksei Ceasar D. Abellar, OIC Chief/DOLE-ESFO said that the proponent which is the Local Government of Oras has a counterpart in the amount of P130,611.
The actual assistance granted to this association was P651,235 including the LGU counterpart.
The livelihood program aims to improve the living conditions of the low-income families through income-generating projects, strengthen the role of member participation, and to promote collective effort among members towards the development of the community.
Abellar said that DARIFADA submitted a project proposal, “Tindahan han mga Parag-uma ha Brgy. Dao (Agrivet Store). The Agrivet Store will sell animal feeds, tools, and farm equipment."
The DOLE-ESFO has facilitated the release of this livelihood program through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
The livelihood assistance will benefit 55 individual marginalized farmers consisting of self-employed with low income who can hardly provide for their family needs.
The livelihood assistance of the DOLE has proved to be an essential program to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19, especially to the vulnerable and marginalized workers. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
