Phividec expects more major industries to come in amid COVID-19 pandemic

MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Aug. 16 (PIA) - A number of companies have shown interest in relocating to Phividec Industrial Authority in Tagoloan Misamis Oriental amid the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic such as a pharmaceutical, eye drop company and sports manufacturing company.

Atty. Franklin M. Quijano, administrator and chief executive officer of Phividec Industrial Authority said during his CORDS-X podcast interview with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin M. Andanar that the income of PHIVIDEC during pandemic only increased by 10 percent compare to the recorded 20 percent increase before COVID. Despite this, numerous manufacturing companies have expressed interest in putting up their businesses in the area.

(We have pharmaceutical, eye drop company, who would like to relocate here in Phividec. There are also some who would like to relocate here, which is HEAD, one company that manufacture sports items such as tennis ball.)

“Another company we are hoping to come in is the Integrated Steel Mill, which will be the first time for the country to have an Integrated Steel Mill," he added.

He explained the importance of a domestically reliable steel industry. Through this "we will not be scared to put up huge buildings or bridges that are quality.”

Northern Mindanao has also three coal fired power plant and hydro power plants, making the power source very reliable. Among the strong points of the region, Atty. Quijano further shared, are the improved information system, through strong internet connectivity and academic excellence which are represented by top universities in the country.

The Mindanao Container Terminal (MICT) located at Phividec is also a big asset for the region because of its geography. “You will save about 20 hrs of travel, to bring the products from Southern to Northern Mindanao and to different parts of the country such as Visayas and Luzon area,” Quijano explained.

"The MICT, he clarified, is a modern facility. So, we can dispatch products easily," he added.

Despite the pandemic, Quijano assured that the import and export acitivities continue through the international port.

“A number of our activities have not been affected by the pandemic. Therefore we are saying that Northern Mindanao is robust, and we are very resilient because of the coming in of industries,” Quijano noted. (JMORucat/PIA10)

How To Make A Country Worship You

Why are Filipinos known for their lack of reading comprehension?

Because according to most of them: "Well-mannered is better than well-educated" That's why most of the Filipinos never progress. It is because of the trash mindset.
