
GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite Aug 17 (PIA) -- The Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE)Team of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) visited the province of Cavite August 13 to provide stronger support to local government units with high transmission of the coronavirus disease.
The activity held at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club began with a brief dialogue between the task force teams led by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and the provincial government headed by Gov. Jonvic Remulla together with General Trias City Mayor Antonio 'Ony' Ferrer.
Gov. Remulla shared the province's mitigating measures implemented against the pandemic, the best practices for the containment of the spread of the coronavirus , and the plans and programs for the province's economic recovery as well as his insights on the current situation of the country in the ongoing emergency health crisis.
Likewise, Mayor Ony Ferrer talked on the city government's plans and programs undertaken in support of the different sectors affected by the pandemic as well as the economic recovery plans for the last quarter of the year.

Sec. Duque was joined by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Secretary and Testing Czar Vince Dizon, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Also present were Baguio City Mayor and Contact Tracing Czar Benjie Magalong, USEC Jonathan Malaya and USEC Bernard Florece, Jr. of DILG, ASEC Ma. Francia Laxamana of DOH and ASEC Dominic Tolentino of DTI.
The CODE Team, composed of experts from line agencies is tasked to provide technical guidance to LGUs in developing action plans and strategies putting emphasies in prevention.
After the dialogue, a ceremonial distribution of face masks was held at Barangay Javalera pursuant to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's directive to strictly enforce minimum health standards in communities and to provide 20 million face masks to vulnerable sectors that include households with senior citizens, pregnant women, special health conditions and Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries.
