Mayor Sara cites need for self-regulation in fight against COVID

DAVAO CITY August 3 (PIA) - Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio cited the need for the people to self-regulate to bring down the COVID-19 infection in Davao City.

She told the Davao City Disaster Radio that it will be the gist of the new executive order that will soon take effect lifting the use of the food and medicine pass and the curfew hours in Davao City in August under the Modified General Community Quarantine.

Duterte-Carpio explained that there are many activities under the MGCQ that no longer need the use of food and medicine pass.

She also observed that people seem to be happier this time of the year, a joyous season, that they have to understand the need to observe the health protocols.

“Everyone has a task to do to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic will not affect the people’s way of life.”

Duterte-Carpio said the executive order still needs to be finished.

“The executive order takes effect as soon as the new policy is implemented.”

Duterte-Carpio stressed it is high time that the residents to put to life the health protocols like staying home, wearing of face masks, social distancing and hand hygiene in order for the COVID-19 cases will go down.

She said low compliance to the basic health protocols will lead to the increase in COVID-19 positive cases while only the four health protocol compliance will guarantee the decrease of COVID-19 positive cases.

Duterte-Carpio said the people must understand why they need to stay home.

“In this way they can save their money and eventually, save lives.”

She also explained that under the MGCQ, regardless of age, anyone can go out of their homes as long as it can only be justified that the purpose is essential.

Duterte-Carpio stressed a person only has to bring an identification card when going out.

Bakit ba naeenganyo sila? Paniwalang paniwala sila. Basahin ang maikling kasagutan tungkol dito. It makes them feel special and different. It gives them a feeling of being better than others, of having their eyes opened to a 'truth' that others don't see. That's why some call non-believers 'sheeple.' I think it's similar to the feeling we get whenever we learn an obscure yet interesting piece of trivia. The thought of "No one else knows it!" I also think conspiracies appeal to the way humans think, especially now. A desire to search for patterns. There has to be reason and purpose for anything. But this is not right! I still blame the lack of the fundamental research skills that needs to be taught in school. I believe you get to have a full subject on your 4th year, but investigative skills and fact checking should be honed at a young age.

How To Make A Country Worship You
