Hernani town in E. Samar distributes relief goods for 2,500 family beneficiaries affected by COVID-19
BORONGAN CITY, August 12 (PIA) — The local government unit of Hernani in Eastern Samar distributed relief goods to 2,500 families affected by COVID-19.
This is the third wave of relief distribution, said Mayor Amado L. Candido, with the first wave on April 3.
"We distributed one sack of rice to 2,674 families on the first and second wave," Candido said.
“Our distribution is done through forming a single line, where beneficiaries follow the health protocols,” Candido said.
Ms. Jam I. Gida, the staff of Office of the Mayor said that the relief goods contained: 5 cans of corned beef, 4 cans meatloaf, 12 sachets milk, 4 sachets powder detergent, 4 sachets toothpaste, and 12 sachets of coffee.
Ms. Irish G. Norcio, a family beneficiary said, she thanked the LGU for the concern.
As LGU Hernani learned that there is a COVID-19 positive case in Llorente and Gen. MacArthur, it convened immediately the Municipal Inter-agency Task Force (MITF) of COVID-19 to plan and execute some measures to protect the people from being infected.
Hernani is located between the two bigger municipalities, Gen. Mac-Arthur and Llorente which are trading partners of Hernani.
Aside from the minimum health protocol, the MITF implemented a curfew.
The barangay officials and PNP will monitor the residents if they follow the health protocols, and the LGU plans to have a quarantine code system to fast track contact tracing in the municipality in case there is a COVID-19 positive.
Other prohibited acts are using karaoke and patronizing beer houses. The LGU also held an orientation of barangay officials to become members of the Municipal Contact Tracing Team.
The mayor appealed to the residents to be safe, observe health protocols, and stay home. (nbq/ SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
