QUEZON CITY, August 21 (PIA) -- Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque urged the public to practice self discipline and follow the guidelines on health protocols to reduce the transmission rates of COVID-19, as Metro Manila and other areas were reverted back under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) since Wednesday (August 19).
“Kailangan na pong -promote natin ang disiplina at indibidwal na responsibilidad [upang] makakatulong sa pagbaba ng transmission rate,” he said during Thursday's virtual press briefing.
Roque emphasized the proper way of wearing face mask, which covers the nose and mouth, and face shield that covers the forehead down to the chin, especially when using public transportation.
Under GCQ, essential establishments are allowed to open but dine-in restaurants and salons can operate with a capacity to be determined by respective local government units. Physical distancing and provision for hand washing should be also implemented, he said.
Businesses offering personal care and aesthetic procedures are still not allowed to open yet, including gyms, fitness studios and sports facilities, entertainment industries, tutorial and review centers, internet cafes, drive-in cinemas, and pet grooming services.
Establishments under category 4 are still not allowed to operate such as: language, driving, dance, acting, and voice schools; entertainment industries like cinemas, theatre, libraries, archives, museums, and cultural centers; as well as full body massage, tattoo, piercing and life defense studios.
He also said that prohibited activities under GCQ are operation of cockpits, beerhouse, night clubs and kids amusement industries.
Meanwhile, he reminded the public especially the workers and employees to stay safe as they go to their workplaces.
“Ngayong nasa GCQ na po tayo, sa Metro Manila at sa karatig na probinsya asahan na pong marami na rin pong ang lalabas at magtatrabaho. Inuulit ko po ha, ingat buhay po tayo para sa hanapbuhay,” he said.
“Disiplina muna para sa ating kalusugan at disiplina para po sa pagsunod ng ating health protocols. Ipakita natin na tunay na handa ang may disiplina po,” he said. (ARR)
