PARAÑAQUE CITY, Aug. 7 (PIA) -- National Task Force (NTF) COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez on Thursday lauded Parañaque City as a "model city" for its best practices in coronavirus response.

"Model city na maituturing ang Parañaque considering 'yung unity of effort at saka 'yung systematic workflow," Galvez said when the NTF visited the local government unit (LGU) to discuss the measures being implemented to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and the assistance provided to the residence to help alleviate the effects of the pandemic.

"When you are united, you will win the war,” he said.

“The strategies are really working and they are already implementing it at the barangay level. Alam nila saan dapat i-address ang problema,” he added.

Galvez led the visit along with Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega and Director Dr. Beverly Ho from the Department of Health (DOH), and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Ricojudge Echiverri.

“We will get some of the best practices to share it with the other LGUs,” said Ho, for her part.

The visit happened after the NTF launched the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) One Hospital Command Center at the MMDA Gymnasium in Guadalupe in Makati City the same day.

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez laid out the projects in place and the future plans of the city in response to the needs of the residents during the crisis brought about by COVID-19.

The local government recently launched the synchronized expanded community testing at the barangay level which allows all barangays in the city to conduct swab and Rapid Antibody tests in close coordination with the City Health Office.

Aside from the expanded testing, numerous isolation facility was set up through the city to isolate and treat patients afflicted with the disease.

In addition to various health protocols, the local government also conducted its own financial assistance called ‘Paraña-Cash’ where residents who have not received any financial aid from the national government will be given 5,000 pesos.

As of Aug 6, 2020, Parañaque City has recorded a total of 2,896 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city. The city is currently monitoring 724 active cases. (PIA-NCR)

Bakit ba naeenganyo sila? Paniwalang paniwala sila. Basahin ang maikling kasagutan tungkol dito. It makes them feel special and different. It gives them a feeling of being better than others, of having their eyes opened to a 'truth' that others don't see. That's why some call non-believers 'sheeple.' I think it's similar to the feeling we get whenever we learn an obscure yet interesting piece of trivia. The thought of "No one else knows it!" I also think conspiracies appeal to the way humans think, especially now. A desire to search for patterns. There has to be reason and purpose for anything. But this is not right! I still blame the lack of the fundamental research skills that needs to be taught in school. I believe you get to have a full subject on your 4th year, but investigative skills and fact checking should be honed at a young age.

How To Make A Country Worship You
