Dorm coming soon for medical frontliners

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 19 (PIA) – Medical frontliners of Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) here and Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra town will soon have an off-site dormitory as their temporary shelter after working long and grueling hours in attending to people who have COVID-19.

The much-needed health facility notches its way to fruition after the Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved a Resolution No. 325 of 2020 which gives authority to Governor Esteban Evan Contreras to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under its “We Heal As One Off-Site Dormitory for Medical Personnel” project.

Under the agreement, the DPWH will conceptualize, construct, manage and supervise the project which will be funded by the agency’s 2020 general appropriations budget, said in an SP press release.

“This will lighten the burden of medical frontliners like doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel of RMPH and BDH who need space to rest between shifts,” noted the SP news release.

DPWH Capiz 1st Engineering District Maintenance and Construction Division chief Engr. Julius Abela, in a local radio interview, said that the dormitory will be easy to set up as it is made of fabricated collapsible components.

He added that when the structure is no longer needed, this can be dismantled and removed onsite and each of the components can be safely stored by DPWH as part of its property for other related requirements such as temporary shelter during disaster/calamity response.

The provincial government-run RMPH is a referral hospital for people with symptoms of COVID-19. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)

Pagbati sa mga itinalagang board members ng Angat Buhay na magsisilbing gabay at haligi ng organisasyon! Magsisilbing Chairperson ng Angat Buhay NGO si Atty. Leni Robredo; habang tatayo namang bilang President si Philip Francisco Dy. Si Raphael Martin Magno naman ang tatayong Executive Director ng organisasyon.
