ILOILO CITY, Aug. 14 (PIA) --- The Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) strongly advised the public to follow the minimum health standards to prevent the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission amid the increasing number of local cases in Region 6.
In an advisory, Dr. Marlyn W. Convocar, DOH WV CHD Regional Director, said that risk-based prevention protocols should be implemented in the whole regionas based on DOH Administrative Order 2020-0015: Guidelines on the Risk-Based Public Health Standards for COVID-19 Mitigation.
“To reduce transmission, individuals must wash their hands with soap and water regularly or use hand disinfectants. Placement of handwashing facilities, hand sanitizers and dispensers with an alcohol-based solution in all public places is encouraged,” she said.
She said that disinfection of frequently-touched surfaces such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, phones, and toilets among others with disinfectant solution should be done; while foot baths in public places and establishments should also be placed.
Individuals living in populated communities must wear cloth face masks when leaving households and medical masks are encouraged for those with flu-like symptoms.
Those with flu-like symptoms must seek medical consultation for proper assessment and to observe isolation practices.
Face shields are encouraged to be used in all public settings and public transportation, especially in areas with increased local cases.
To reduce contact, individuals should practice physical distancing of at least one meter apart in public areas and workplaces.
Markings should be placed on the floor to guide individuals to maintain one-meter distance and the number of people inside the establishments should be limited.
Mass gatherings and face-to-face meetings must be limited and workplaces should adopt work from home arrangements.
There should be limitation of non-essential services and business owners should adopt modified alternative structures and arrangements for transactions including pick-up, delivery, drop-off points, and online transactions. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
