Why are Filipinos known for their lack of reading comprehension?

Because according to most of them: "Well-mannered is better than well-educated" That's why most of the Filipinos never progress. It is because of the trash mindset.

DepEd to parents: Make learning env't in your homes

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 10 (PIA) - - With the impending resumption of classes, the Department of Education (DepEd) region 2 has advised parents and guardians to establish a conducive learning environment for their children in their homes.

Regional Diretor Estela L. Cariño said all schools and teachers in Cagayan Valley have already signified their readiness in the re-opening of classes on August 24 with the implementation of the different learning modalities.

"We will resume with the classes but definitely there will be no face-to-face yet so learners will just be at home. However, we have to ensure also that the children have an area in their houses that are conducive to learning," Cariño said.

According to her, the DepEd will give orientations to parents and other stakeholders on implementation of the new normal teaching modalities, especially that parents and the community will play big roles in ensuring that no children will be left behind.

All schools' division regionwide, she said, have already laid their mechanisms in reaching out to the students, from the delivery of the modules, distribution and collection of activity materials and monitoring of the situations of the students.

Cariño also said majority of the schools in the region have chosen to adopt the self-learning module or printed materials, some opted the radio-based instruction while only few preferred the online system.

"Because of poor internet connectivity in majority of our schools, especially those in the far-flung areas, the islands and coastal communities, they did not chose online. They are now preparing the printed modules for their students," Cariño said.

She stated that, as of now, only Tuguegarao City Science High School(TCSHS), Santiago National High School(SNHS), one in Nueva Vizcaya and another in Aurora, Isabela opted to adopt the online learning.

Cariño said printing of the learning modules is still on-going but she assured that the materials will be available before the start of classes.

On her part, Assistant Regional Director Rhoda Razon said they have already allotted some budget for the printing of the modules while there are also local officials who donated some funds to augment the budgetary requirement for the modules of their respective constituents.

"We are very much thankful to our local officials from the provinces down to the barangays because they contributed a lot not only financially but also in helping our teachers in the ground," Razon said.

DEpEd officials said teachers should no longer solicit bond papers from their stakeholders as there are already funds downloaded to their respective divisions.

"If they need more, they can utilize their Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE)," Razon added. (ALM/BME/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)

Bakit ba naeenganyo sila? Paniwalang paniwala sila. Basahin ang maikling kasagutan tungkol dito. It makes them feel special and different. It gives them a feeling of being better than others, of having their eyes opened to a 'truth' that others don't see. That's why some call non-believers 'sheeple.' I think it's similar to the feeling we get whenever we learn an obscure yet interesting piece of trivia. The thought of "No one else knows it!" I also think conspiracies appeal to the way humans think, especially now. A desire to search for patterns. There has to be reason and purpose for anything. But this is not right! I still blame the lack of the fundamental research skills that needs to be taught in school. I believe you get to have a full subject on your 4th year, but investigative skills and fact checking should be honed at a young age.

How To Make A Country Worship You
