Danglas livelihood activities sustained thru help of  agencies

DANGLAS, Abra, Aug. 13(PIA) -- Amid the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the livelihood activities of this fifth class municipality are restored and sustained through the help of national government agencies.

The local government unit has partnered  with national government agencies such as the  Department of Social Welfare and Development for the Cash for Work for Women, the Department Labor and Employment for the Special Program of the Employment of Students,  the Department of Agriculture and Dept. of Public Works and Highways for their projects, Mayor Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas told Presidential Communications Operations Office  Secretary Martin Andanar in the Laging Handa Network  Briefing News on Thursday (Aug. 13).

Tourism is also back though at only 50%.  Aside from farming, tourism is a source of livelihood in Danglas, also called the “little Baguio City of Abra" due to its pine forests.

“Our municipality is a boundary area of Ilocos-Norte and Abra where local tourist within the province and the province of Ilocos-Norte usually stop by for a visit in our tourism spots. However, we are not yet fully re-opening our tourism activities as a precautionary measure against Covid-19 spread,” she said.

Sharing the their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bragas said the MLGU implemented  weekly “ayuda”(food packs) and cash assistance to the people of Danglas during the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine. In addition, in order to prevent the influx of people in their municipal market, the LGU initiated the  rolling market that brings goods including  vegetables, meat, fish and fruits  to the  barangays.

During the General Community Quarantine, the mayor said the LGU continues to reach out all the barangays in the municipality to bring food packs and hygiene kits for the people every other week.

The LGU also provides foodpacks to all households under lockdown. It is the norm in the town that areas of residence of confirmed COVID patients are put in lockdown to facilitate contact tracing and disinfection.

At present, there is no more active case of Covid-19 with the recovery of   four patients. There is one death recorded, an elderly locally stranded individual.

Meanwhile, Bragas reiterated the call for vigilance, cooperation and sense of responsibility especially in the observance of minimum health protocols such as limiting movement (no leisure travels), observing social distancing proper hygiene (frequent hand wash with soap, alcohol or sanitizer) and use of face mask/face shield whenever we go out to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in the municipality and in the province. How To Make A Country Worship You

Why are Filipinos known for their lack of reading comprehension?

Because according to most of them: "Well-mannered is better than well-educated" That's why most of the Filipinos never progress. It is because of the trash mindset.
