Opening of Kalinga-Apayao inter-prov'l roads to boost  economy

BALBALAN, Kalinga, July 13 (PIA) - - The opening of new road connections between Apayao, Kalinga and Abra will contribute in boosting the Cordillera region’s economy.

Kalinga and Apayao provinces will soon be connected by another two road connections via Balbalan in the western corner and Pinukpuk as the center route of which both are towards Conner in Apayao.

The municipal road from Tawang, Balbalan to the boundary with Mabiga in Conner, Apayao was constructed. However, it is not yet open to traffic and only vehicles with the power to roll on rough road are using it at the moment.

Mayor Eric Gonayon said about six-kilometer of road opening from Tawang to Bassao boundary was implemented by the municipal local government unit. The Apayao side of the road is not yet open, he added.

Another proposed connecting road is via Malagnat in Pinukpuk to Daga in Conner if the proposed law converting the Apayao-Kalinga-Abra provincial road into a national road will be approved by Congress.

It can be recalled that District Representative Allen Jesse Mangaoang in the 18th Congress first regular session filed House Bill No. 590 seeking the conversion of said provincial road into a national road to realize vast economic opportunities to benefit both provinces.

Said provincial road starts from Barangay Buluan in Conner traversing through Barangay Daga to Sacpil then to Pinukpuk via Taggay, Ammacian and Wagod, and continues to the farm-to-market road from Wagod to Aciga, all of Pinupuk then to Tawang-Buaya-Mabaca-Gawaan-Liglig-Salegseg, all of Balbalan until the border with Abra.

Should this road be turned into a national road with the higher capability of the Department of Public Works and Highways, the benefits derived therefrom will be great for all stakeholders. The improvement of this road will open vast tracks of agricultural lands into production areas and small-scale industries along this long stretch of road will be established. Peace and order will also be achieved when people are contented earning income from homegrown livelihood enterprises.

The upgrading and enhancement of said road would also serve as alternative route to tourism destinations and an alternative route from Region 1 to Region 2. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)

How To Make A Country Worship You

Isang Pasasalamat

Sabi nila: “There’s always something to be thankful for.” Kaya ako din may sasabihin! 🀣✌️ Isang pasasalamat!

15 Things That Make You a Baguio Person

Here are random instances that might make you feel the feels: Despite the fact that everyone gets enthusiastic about strawberries, you go, "Like, duh! We have a whole farm of those!" you roll your eyes and add everything else is strawberry-tized -- from jams to wines to taho!  You recognize how fresh vegetables really looks, smells and tastes like, and as Sayote may cost a fortune in other areas, in Baguio, you can ask from your neighbour’s backyard or you're lucky if the vines has branched out over your side already.  You secretly know the lyrics to country music when it is played on the radio, more so you sing along every time the Magic 99.9 jingle is on. Leather jackets are for cowboys, denim jackets are what you take when you go swimming and those killer boots? those are made for Baguio walking.  Midland is where you check out what’s in, hot and not in the city including obituaries.  Dainty, Star CafΓ© or Luisa’s is where the oldies meet up for
