RIZAL, Kalinga, July 14(PIA) - - The Department of Education -Schools Division of Kalinga (SDK) is orienting stakeholders on the blended/distance learning delivery this week before its pilot testing from July 20-24.
Schools Division Superintendent Amador Garcia said personnel of the Schools Division are now at three school venues for the firming up of the blended learning delivery. Orientation on instructional materials and testing is being conducted at the Rizal National School of Arts and Trades (RNSAT), on Alternative Learning System at the Community Learning Center of Uma and on Special Education at Andarayan Elementary School, also in Rizal.
Covered subjects for the pilot testing of the curriculum in RNSAT are English, Filipino, Science, Mathematics, Araling Panlipunan, MAPEH, Edukasyon sa Pagpapatao, and Technical Vocational Education.
The program is a transition modality of teaching from the conventional face-to-face learning which cannot be done yet because of the threat of the corona virus pandemic, to blended leaning which is a combination of online distance learning and in-person delivery of learning materials to the homes of learners. Radio and television-based instructions will also be utilized for those who do not have access to a computer or the internet.
Romulo Galnawan, Chief of the Education Program Supervisor-Curriculum Implementation Division, challenged the stakeholders to live by the new normal of reaching to learners while urging parents to closely guide their children at home in catching up with their subjects.
He said the week-long preparation includes grounding and unhooking techniques to mental health; learning modalities; priming parents, teachers and learners in new normal in education; guidelines for para-teachers and parents for school year 2020-2021, and general orientation on distance learning.

Strategies for the ongoing orientation to parents at the school levels are done through face-to-face meeting but closely following health protocols for COVID-19 like per session is limited to 10 parents or guardians only who are 21 years old and above and below 60 years old. They should wear masks and maintain physical distancing.
Pilot testing of the Blended Learning will be conducted on July 20 to 24.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier announced that there will be no face to face classes until a medicine or vaccine for COVID-19 is available. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
