PASIG CITY, July 1 (PIA) – To ensure food production in the metropolis amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF NCR) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines joined hands in the urban farming/gardening and livestock farming.
Dubbed as the “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Kontra COVID-19’ (ALPAS SA COVID-19), the program led by the Department of Agriculture promotes and supports food production in urban areas.
The program aims to ensure food availability in Metro Manila and other highly urbanized cities all over the country. Likewise, the program aims to provide an alternative source of livelihood to urban residents amidst the community quarantine.
JTF NCR provided their personnel with vegetable seedlings like ampalaya, eggplant, okra, as well garden tools. Likewise, JTF NCR’s chicken raising also supported alternative livelihood. (JTF NCR/PIA-NCR)
