CEBU CITY, July 11 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) here implemented full disinfection of its office facilities and building starting July 9 until July 12.
DSWD-7 temporarily suspended its office operations and face-to-face transactions for the Assistance in Individual in Crisis Situations (AICS) which is located in a separate compound just across the main building and the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) II in Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City.
DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala assured that the regional office will remain committed to their job of delivering unhampered service, including the distribution of the second tranche of the emergency cash subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) despite the threat of COVID-19.
Geamala said when the community quarantine was enforced, the office implemented health safety protocols like physical distancing, wearing of face masks, regular handwashing, and weekly office disinfection.
“Even though the Department is busy in the implementation of the Social Amelioration Program, we also need to consider the health aspect of our workers who are considered frontliners of the government so this disinfection will allow our office environment to breathe and rest for four days including weekends,” added Geamala.
For the meantime, DSWD-7 staff will have a work from home set-up on Thursday and Friday.
At present, DSWD-7 has recorded 18 COVID-19 positive personnel of whom 11 have already recovered.
The remaining seven active cases are already in isolation.
DSWD-7 is currently monitoring their condition and has provided necessary assistance depending on their needs such as food assistance, psychosocial interventions, and financial support, if necessary.
“While the office will have its disinfection, some of our staff will continue to distribute this week the emergency cash subsidy for those low-income families who are included in the ‘left-out’ list,” said Geamala.(hfg/PIA7/DSWD-7)
