Republic Act No. 6713 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A CODE OF CONDUCT AND ETHICAL STANDARDS FOR PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES, TO   UPHOLD THE TIME-HONORED PRINCIPLE OF PUBLIC OFFICE BEING A PUBLIC TRUST, GRANTING INCENTIVES AND REWARDS FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE, ENUMERATING PROHIBITED ACTS AND TRANSACTIONS AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR   VIOLATIONS THEREOF AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES Section 1. Title. - This Act shall be known as the "Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees." Section 2. Declaration of Policies. - It is the policy of the State to promote a high standard of ethics in public service. Public officials and employees shall at all times be accountable to the people and shall discharge their duties with utmost responsibility, integrity, competence, and loyalty, act with patriotism and justice, lead modest lives, and uphold public interest over personal interest. DOH-10 drums up deworming campaign amid COVID-19

CAGAYAN DE ORO, July 8 (PIA) – On top of delivering essential health services, the Department of Health (DOH) – 10 has also intensified its deworming campaign in Northern Mindanao despite the limitations brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. 

“COVID-19 has definitely hampered other health programs such as our immunization and nutrition programs. We are in the middle polio epidemic  now. We need to address this," Dr. Ian Christian Gonzales, DOH-10 head of the Infectious Disease Cluster said. 

Dr. Gonzales also explained that intestinal worms, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases have something to do with proper hygiene, proper handling of food, and handwashing to avoid the diseases. 

“Globally, there are 1.5 billion people being infected with intestinal worms and it’s a very sad thing to know because unlike for COVID-19, we have the means to treat this. Our deworming program has been here for decades. Our medicines are proven to be safe and effective, and is used worldwide,” he said.

The World Health Organizations (WHO) classifed intestinal worms as "neglected disease," as there is no much investment to control it despite it being easily preventable/treatable. 

“We just lack the necessary push. It’s not just the DOH that should pursue the battle, but the local government and all government agencies as well" Sr. Gonzales said.  (VPSBautista/PIA10)

Bakit Uto-Uto ang mga Pulahan?

Yung tipong habang tumitingin ka sa feed mo may nakita kang nag-share ng mga conspiracy theory. Bakit ba naeenganyo sila? Paniwalang paniwala sila. Basahin ang maikling kasagutan tungkol dito. It makes them feel special and different. It gives them a feeling of being better than others, of having their eyes opened to a 'truth' that others don't see. That's why some call non-believers 'sheeple.' I think it's similar to the feeling we get whenever we learn an obscure yet interesting piece of trivia. The thought of "No one else knows it!" I also think conspiracies appeal to the way humans think, especially now. A desire to search for patterns. There has to be reason and purpose for anything. But this is not right! I still blame the lack of the fundamental research skills that needs to be taught in school. I believe you get to have a full subject on your 4th year, but investigative skills and fact checking should be honed at a young age.
