Ngayong araw, nilulunsad namin ang #AngatBayanihan — ito ang ating VOLUNTEER PROGRAM sa Angat Buhay kung saan puwede kayong mag-ambag ng oras, talento, o kahit anong tulong para sa agarang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan. Dito, puwede kang magsagawa ng iba’t ibang klase ng paglapit at pagtulong sa kapwa, lalo na para doon sa mga nakilala natin sa ating mga pag-iikot sa iba’t ibang parte ng Pilipinas. Ilang halimbawa ng pagbabayanihan sa pamamagitan ng Angat Buhay ang agarang pagkilos ng volunteer groups sa Abra at Ilocos provinces na tumugon sa pangangailangan ng mga nasalanta ng lindol. Bago pa man iyan, nagsagawa rin ng relief operations ang ating magigiting na volunteers para sa apektado ng Banaue landslides. BORONGAN CITY, July 28 (PIA) - - The Borongan Taekwondo players hauled three medals during the recently concluded 2020 Philippine Taekwondo Association Online National Taekwondo Speed Kicking Championship on July 11-13, 2020 at the Rizal Memorial Complex, Metro Manila.
According to Mr. Joseph Sherwin A. Ambida, certified national referee and instructor of Taekwondo, some 180 participants nationwide send their entries through videos sent to the Philippine Taekwondo Association.
In Eastern Visayas, participants were from Leyte – 20, Calbayog City – 4, and Eastern Samar – 3.
Mr. Ambida said the competition is something of the new normal. There is no face-to-face contacts. The entries were sent to Philippine Taekwondo Association through videos uploaded to YouTube link. After two weeks, before the judging, there is a week for sorting videos according to different categories of Taekwondo.
“Our three entries for the said competitions won three medals,” Ambida said.
Declared winners are: Ms. Glendale Ambida, gold medallist, blackbelt junior category spees Kicking event; Ms. Tricia Padua, double silver medallist, blackbelt senior speed kicking and kick pad events; and Mr. Larry Dulfo, bronze medalist, blackbelt senior 2 category speed kicking event.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by each emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques, said Ambida.
It requires immense discipline and proper knowledge of the correct technique, he added.
Ambida disclosed that kids these days play with their gadgets. Very few have given the value of sports and physical fitness.
“It is hard for us to convince the children and even their parents,” Ambida added.
Ambida said if the children like sports of Taekwondo, it helps them achieve self-discipline, perseverance, confidence, modesty, courage, hard work, patience, and sportsmanship.
“I strongly instill discipline. That is why we were able to send our good players to Manila for college education wherein they are now Varsity players in prime universities,” Ambida said. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
