Never Again! Never Forget!

Why does it matter?  Can't we move on? There is a thin line between moving forward and forgetting. The occurrence of collective amnesia did not happen only by mistake or overnight. Correctly remembering what happened during Martial Law is important, especially amidst ongoing conversations that attempt to revise history. While others have made attempts through social media platforms to cement the Martial Law's place in our cultural memory, we have a clear social responsibility to be accountable for our actions and be conscious of its impact on others and in our communities. Truths are learned to be remembered and not to be forgotten. There is nothing wrong with forgiving and moving forward, but what makes things hard to digest is when accountability is neglected. In that case, chances are, Filipinos will find it hard to value, defend, and promote our freedom. To be reminded to #NeverForget does not necessarily mean holding a grudge until our very last breath. It will

BARMM ministries, WFP converge for integrated rural development

MARAWI CITY, Jul 30 (PIA) - The Ministries of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE); Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR); Interior and Local Government (MILG); and the World Food Programme (WFP) inked a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday, July 29, for the establishment of a convergence model to sustain income-generating activities to support integrated rural development in the Bangsamoro region.

The model also envisions an increase in agricultural and agro-forestry products in the region. It will be implemented through the MENRE’s ‘Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program (IBGP) and ‘Kayod ka, Bangsamoro’ (KKB), MAFAR’s Basic Integration of Harmonized Intervention (BINHI) program, and MILG’s Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA) program.

The MAFAR will cater to the supply of vegetable seeds, training for farmers, and the establishment of market linkages.

On the other hand, the MILG committed to lead the implementation and mainstreaming of the Convergence Area Development Plan among the local government units and beneficiary communities.

Moreover, the WFP will provide remunerations to ‘Palaw Rangers’ while waiting for the harvesting period.

Palaw Rangers, who are Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants waiting to be decommissioned, will aid in the establishment and sustaining of these ‘survival gardens’ to ensure productivity and output efficiency.

“We are looking forward to this collaboration, the Convergence, its promising outputs, and to how it would help the Bangsamoro communities,” said BARMM Executive Secretary Abdulraof Macacua, also the concurrent MENRE minster.

Macacua also said the convergence will be implemented from September 2020 to March 2021.

Meanwhile, WFP Deputy Country Director Mats Persson, who attended the ceremony thru video conference, said WFP is determined to provide assistance to all concerned ministries on the development and enhancement of the convergence model.

Also present during Wednesday’s MOA signing were MAFAR Minister Mohammad Yacob, BPDA Director-General Mohajirin Ali, and Dir. Khalid Dumagay who represented MILG Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo. (BPI/PIA ICIC)

Bakit ba naeenganyo sila? Paniwalang paniwala sila. Basahin ang maikling kasagutan tungkol dito. It makes them feel special and different. It gives them a feeling of being better than others, of having their eyes opened to a 'truth' that others don't see. That's why some call non-believers 'sheeple.' I think it's similar to the feeling we get whenever we learn an obscure yet interesting piece of trivia. The thought of "No one else knows it!" I also think conspiracies appeal to the way humans think, especially now. A desire to search for patterns. There has to be reason and purpose for anything. But this is not right! I still blame the lack of the fundamental research skills that needs to be taught in school. I believe you get to have a full subject on your 4th year, but investigative skills and fact checking should be honed at a young age.

'Di kami nagkamali, we already expected those things to happen... You're making fun of our opinions pero 'di niyo magets na para 'yun sa ikabubuti ng lahat. Now, why so sudden bigla kayong nagreklamo? eh diba ginusto niyo 'yan, honestly dito samin nagsasabing nagsisisi sila sa naboto nila, for me hindi na kasalanan ng mga politiko na naloko nila kayo dahil there are so many evidences na. Pero all of you still chose to be fooled and deceived by them. But it's too late na eh nakaupo na sila sa pwesto na hindi nila deserve. Pero ito na lang... Let our response be, GINUSTO NIYO 'YAN!
