BORONGAN CITY, July 14 (PIA) - - Three more indigent families from Eastern Samar got new houses on July 8 under the “Pabahay Program” of the Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko Porgram of the PNP.
The Family of Pablito and Mary Ann Calvintos is one of the beneficiaries from the municipality of Hernani, Eastern Samar. The husband is only a laborer and a fish vendor, while his wife, Mrs. Marry Calvintos takes care of the children. They have three children who are still studying while the other four (4) are out of school youth, doing odd jobs in the neighborhood, helping their parents in their daily needs and the youngest child is a 2 year old boy.
What the family earns is just enough for their basic needs that building a new house seems out of the question.
PLt Bermodo Gullo-II, chief of police of PNP Hernani said the family sleeps on a worn-out linoleum that lines the earth, no flooring of concrete nor wood.
Another beneficiary is from the municipality of Llorente, Eastern Samar.
Mrs. Sarah Borja of Brgy. Tabok was teary-eyed while thanking the PNP for the assistance that her family received.
Mrs. Borja said her children will now be able to review their lessons properly since their roof will not leak anymore once it rains.
Mrs. Borja has six children and their house was destroyed by Typhoon Ursula.
For the Municipality of Maydolong, Mrs. Liza Bajado of Brgy. 1, Poblacion, did not expect that the PNP will solve their housing problem to accommodate all eight members.
Earlier, the Dolores MPS and Quinapondan MPS built houses for the Docabo and Abejo families, respectively.
The ESPPO “Pabahay Program” was launched to assist and provide housing assistance to those less fortunate families especially during this COVID-19 crisis.
The said program is funded by the officer's own pocket and sometimes assisted by the LGU and some private individuals that believe in the noble cause of the said program. (nbq/rdt PIA-E.Samar)
