TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, July 15 (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas (DOH-8) on Wednesday, July 15, confirmed that three police officers in Eastern Visayas have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a Virtual Presser, DOH-8 Regional Director Minerva P. Molon tagged the three police officers as Patient EV-434, a newly-assigned police officer in Region 8 but a resident of Cebu City; Patient EV-646 who is assigned at the Leyte Police Provincial Office and Patient EV-629 who is assigned at the Samar Police Provincial Mobile Force Company and a resident of San Sebastian, Samar.
Lt. Col. Ma. Bella Rentuaya, spokesperson of the Police regional Office 8 said, the first case has already recovered but on extended quarantine based on health protocols.
Said police officer was previously assigned in Mindanao before he was assigned in Region 8.
He tested negative on his reswab conducted on July 1 while the remaining two remained isolated even if asymptomatic.
Patient-EV 646 is recuperating while being quarantined at Guindapunan Quarantine Facility in Palo, Leyte while Patient EV-629 is being quarantined at Maulong Quarantine facility, Catbalogan, Samar.
As of 7 p.m. on July 15, DOH-8 reported a total of 656 COVID-19 cases in the region, of which, 610 or 93 percent have recovered with and three deaths. (ldl/cba/PIA8)
