Quarantined Sabangan LSIs  help beautify temporary holding areas

SABANGAN, Mountain Province, June 14(PIA) -- Locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in this municipality made their 14- day quarantine in holding areas here meaningful by engaging in some worthwhile activities while observing the minimum health standards.

These LSIs were brought home from Baguio City and Benguet by the local government of   Sabangan thru the "Saan Di Kakailyan" Program.  As mandated by the LGU, stranded residents coming especially from areas with confirmed COVID-19 cases have to undergo 14 day quarantine in facilities set up by the barangay or municipal government.The first batch of LSIs composed of 51 individuals arrived on May 18 and housed at the Sabangan National High School while the second batch    came home on May 23 and housed at the Pingad Senior High School which served as their temporary community isolation facility.

As form of their morning exercise and to while the time away, the LSIs conducted voluntary activities such as weeding and gardening, cleaning and drying of   non-biodegradable waste materials ready for recycling, other cleaning and beautification of the host schools. They did the activities strictly following protocols on social distancing, wearing of masks, wearing of gloves and taking a bath after.

 An LSI in a facebook  post said  being  responsible and compassionate  is  their way of  showing gratitude to the  LGU, the schools  for accommodating them  and individuals  who are helping them  in all the stages of  their being finally reunited with their families after being locked down in other areas for months.

The LSIs were brought home to their respective homes after completing the 14 day quarantine and medically cleared on June 1 for the first batch and on June 6 for the second batch.

During the send-off ceremony, the LGU officials reminded the LSIs to always practice the COVID-19 precautionary measures and the minimum health protocols such as wearing of facemasks, social distancing, frequent handwashing and cleanliness.
 
The LGU also thanked the cooperation and understanding of their “kakailyans” who followed all the protocols and guidelines to ensure that the municipality and the provincewill remain COVID-19 free. (JDP/RMC- PIA CAR

Pagbati sa mga itinalagang board members ng Angat Buhay na magsisilbing gabay at haligi ng organisasyon! Magsisilbing Chairperson ng Angat Buhay NGO si Atty.
