PASIG CITY, June 15 (PIA) -- The Pasig City government through Pasig Transport, is encouraging the public to report violations on the city’s bike lanes, from obstruction to damaged barriers.
Pasig City Ordinance No. 13, s. 2011 or the city’s Bike Lane Guidelines prohibits obstruction on bike lanes. Removal of barriers and cones, and other traffic separators is strictly prohibited and punishable by law.
The guideline also allows the use of light electric vehicles and personal mobility, devices such as electric kick scooters on bike lanes with a maximum speed limit of 15kph.
Likewise, the guidelines state that bikers are not limited to bike lanes. Thus, motor vehicle owners are advised to yield to bikers at all times. Meanwhile, pop-up bike lanes are being studied for permanent installation.
To report violations of the city’s bike lane guidelines: take a photo of the violation; put details in caption (violation, location, etc); and add the hashtag #PasigBikeLanes.
The Pasig City government, through Pasig Transport, has provided bicycles as alternative mode of transport and Libreng Sakay services to medical workers and frontliners of the city since the start of community quarantine in Metro Manila in March wherein public transportations are limited.
