New COVID-19 case emerges in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, June 14 (PIA) -- After 30 days of zero case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the province of La Union recorded again a new case on Saturday.

 

This was confirmed by Governor Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III in an official statement posted on the province’s Facebook page.

 

“The resurgence of a new case illustrates that our fight against the disease is not yet over,” Ortega said.

 

The governor identified the patient as a 30-year-old male from Naguilian town.

 

He then appealed for his constituents to remain vigilant and follow guidelines such as staying at home, if possible, and observing minimum health standards.

 

“Our fight to make La Union COVID-free lies in our sustained cooperation and solidarity,” he added.

 

Meanwhile, Naguilian Mayor Nieri T. Flores issued Executive Order 2020-36 also on June 13 confirming the second COVID-19 case in their town and declaring lockdown of Sitio Bliss in Baraoas Sur village where the patient resides.

 

Flores informed that the new case is a seafarer and asymptomatic and now under the custody of the Municipal Health Office.

 

To contain the spread of the virus, she declared a lockdown ordering the 115 families in Sitio Bliss to stay inside their homes until further notice.

 

Further, the mayor activated the town's contact tracing team and advised those who have personal contact with the patient to cooperate with the authorities. (JCR/JND, PIA La Union)

Pagbati sa mga itinalagang board members ng Angat Buhay na magsisilbing gabay at haligi ng organisasyon! Magsisilbing Chairperson ng Angat Buhay NGO si Atty. Leni Robredo; habang tatayo namang bilang President si Philip Francisco Dy. Si Raphael Martin Magno naman ang tatayong Executive Director ng organisasyon.
