BAGUIO CITY, June 10(PIA) -- Cordillera singers and artists are invited to participate in a music video production (MVP) competition showcasing the beauty and grandeur of the environment of the Cordillera region.
The Environmental Management Bureau – Cordillera opened the Environmental Music Video Production Competition dubbed as “Kanshun di Cordillera” in celebration of June as Environment Month.
The project aims to provide awareness and exposure to the Filipino people on the need for environmental conservation and preservation. The outcome of the competition is geared towards sustainability of eco-friendly and economically stable communities particularly in the Cordillera.
The Environmental Music Video Production Competition is open to all interested participants at least 18 years old and above, whether novice, amateur or professional songwriters, be it solo, duo or group within the Cordillera Administrative Region only.
The theme of the song should revolve around environmental-related topics, environmental protection, conservation and preservation. The accompanying video of the original song should showcase the environmental beauty of the Cordillera region.
Participants to the contest should use highland Ilocano and local Cordillera dialects such as Ibaloi, Kanakanaey, Kalanguya, Tuwali, Ikalinga, Isneg, etc. or combination of the lyrics of the original song that they will compose and make a video production of. An English translation should be attached during submission.
Indigenous musical instruments such as nose flute, gangsa, tongatong, diwdiw-as, solibao and others are also encouraged to be used as accompaniment of the song.
Song entries must not exceed four minutes, including intro and extro. Entries must be submitted in full accompaniment version and in minus-one. Words with registered trademarks/brand names, explicit and offensive lyrics, are strictly not allowed.
The song entries must not have been used in any previous competitions or commercially released such as recorded and commercially distributed, sold to the public or uploaded in any online/social media platforms.
Entries should be saved in a flash drive and submitted at EMB-CAR office or thru courier service addressed to the Environmental Education and Information Unit, Environmental Management Bureau Cordillera, DENR Compound, Gibraltar, Baguio City. Entries should also be sent thru email at eeiuembcar@gmail.com.
Entries accompanied with music video entries and song lyrics should include complete name of sender (e.g. composer(s), lyricist(s) and/or arranger(s), age, contact numbers, address, e-mail address and one 2x2 ID picture.
Deadline of submission of entries is on July 17, 2020.
The winning entry will win Php 45, 000; First Runner-Up will take home Php 30, 000, Second Runner-Up with Php 20, 000, and Third Runner-Up with Php 10, 000. Special awards and consolation prizes will also be given.
“The environmental song used in the MVP will be their own composition; hence, the message will come from their mind, heart and soul. Consequently, they will practice what is in their own output. It is easy to contaminate the greater majority of the people as the initiative will come from the most influential segment of the population,” the EMB-CAR stated in a social media post.
