CALOOCAN CITY, June 13 (PIA) -- The City Government of Manila inked a partnership with Grab Philippines to hire about 2,000 displaced tricycle and motorcycle riders affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said on Wednesday, June 10, that the partnership will provide economic opportunities to the affected riders.
“This is another day of opportunity delivered by Grab food for the people of Manila," Domagoso said.
"Dalawa ang matutulungan nito: ang mga trabahante at saka yung mga negosyo," he added.
The Manila Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) will assist about 2,000 drivers in securing the necessary documents.
In turn, Grab Philippines will provide training to recruited drivers and grant them “the same benefits and other advantages accorded to independent contractor riders” of their company. (Manila PIO/PIA-NCR)
