CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, June 11 (PIA) - - The provincial and city leadership call on the public to stay calm amidst the reported positive COVID-19 case in Tabuk City.
Every citizen is advised not to panic, to stay at home, practice and observe health protocols and guidelines as health workers are doing their best to control the spread of the virus. The city recorded last June 10 its first COVID-19 positive case, a locally standed individual(LSI), the first also for the province of Kalinga.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero, after meeting with the city inter-agency task force (IATF), he went on air over Radyo Natin FM to assure his constituents that the city LGU is on top of the situation and asks the cooperation of everyone. He assured that the City Government is testing all those who rode the bus that brought the LSIs home with the COVID-19 infected individual on June 6.
As control measure, the city IATF placed on lockdown barangays Bulanao Centro, Bulanao Norte, Laya West, Ipil and Lacnog from June 11 to June 15.
The city health office (CHO) assured it is doing everything in its capacity to avert the spread of this disease. All the 11 co-passengers of the patient tagged as K-01 were already pulled out from their barangay isolation unit (BIU) and transferred to the city isolation unit (CIU) for monitoring, isolation and swabbing.
As part of the city’s contact tracing measures, all health workers and LGU personnel present at Talaca checkpoint and triage area during the arrival on June 6 of the first batch of LSIs from Quezon city including Victory Liner drivers are now under strict isolation and monitoring.
Persons who had close contact with patient K-01 or any of the passengers of Victory Bus 7070 are advised to contact 09959136553 or 09295886484.
Governor Ferdinand Tubban also asked the public to remain calm and circumspect in this time of distress.
“I also plead that we all cooperate to help in the fight against the virus. By doing our part and by fighting together, we can heal as one”, he said.
“Agbibinnadang tayo koma, agtitinulong ken agkakadwa nga mangpaksiat iti daytoy nga virus iti kabiitan nga panawen.” We must all strictly follow guidelines and health protocols being implemented by the Province, the municipalities and the City, he added.
He assured that the Provincial LGU shall extend whatever help it can to augment the needed workforce for contact tracing, testing, and isolation of cases, Tubban said.
