DAGUPAN CITY, June 14 (PIA) - Mayor Brian Lim of Dagupan City said he has requested the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to put the city under a Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) status starting June 16, 2020 for the purpose of economic revitalization and recovery.
Lim said in the two to three months of quarantine period, the income of Dagupeños was greatly affected.
“It is important that people should go back to doing their businesses and work. Let us make it easy for them so that they would have a stable income for their families,” Lim said in an interview.

With an MGCQ status, Lim said Category 4 industries such as restaurants, salons and barber shops can operate at a 50 percent capacity.
“Kailangang mabuhay muli ang ating ekonomiya,” the mayor said.
Under the IATF guidelines, MGCQ refers to the transition phase between GCQ and new normal, where the temporary measures are relaxed.
Limiting movement and transportation, the regulation of operating industries and the presence of uniformed personnel to enforce community quarantine protocols become less necessary.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lim also announced that the 14 frontliners of the city who tested positive of COVID-19 during a swab test on June 1, are now negative of the virus based on the latest test results. (JCR/AMB/VHS/PIA Pangasinan)
