PASIG CITY, June 12 (PIA) – Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar noted the importance of linking trading posts or trading centers to big markets to help more farmers market their products.
During the Laging Handa Public Briefing aired over PTV on Friday, the agriculture chief said that putting-up more trading centers in the country will also help and benefit more farmers who were recently affected by the community quarantine.
“Ito po yung na evaluate natin as a result of the ECQ for Luzon.
He explained that a more efficient system is needed.
“We have to have more efficient na tinatawag natin na linkage between the food markets and the food logistics.”
Dar said that the DA is currently identifying locations on where to put-up more trading centers both at the provincial and regional levels.
The DA chief also noted that the trading system will be more efficient if linked in big markets located in Metro Manila.
“This will be a much more efficient system kung naka link po sila dito sa Metro Manila. We will have four big food markets, yun po ang plano natin. Dito sa Metro Manila, wholesale po ito where the traders, integrators kung bibili po sa mga provincial, regional trading posts ay dadalhin po dito sa mga big food markets sa Metro Manila,” the agriculture chief said adding that the agriculture department will do this in all areas all over the country in the next two years.
