OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, June 8 (PIA)--National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. bared that about 81,000 individuals have already enrolled in the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) program during the Laging Handa Network Briefing with Presidental Communications Sec. Martin Andanar, June 5.
Escalada said the government prioritizes those who want to leave Metro Manila and go back to their provinces for good. "This is just a matter of facilitating the transfer of our residents in Metro Manila," Escalada said.
The NHA manager assured that BP2 will not only be implemented during the Duterte administration and it does not require everyone to avail the program.
"Hindi ito pwersahan (This is not compulsory). This is a voluntary action by anybody living in Manila na gusto nang bumalik sa kanilang probinsya (who want to go back to their province). So we will facilitate the return of the kababayan from Metro Manila to the regional urban centers or rural centers which they would like to choose."
The beneficiaries from the previous batches of the program will help convince those who have not yet decided about BP2 since they can share stories on how the program changed their lives, the manager cited. He further adds that experience is the best marketing tool and the best advertising mechanism.
Initially, NHA prioritizes Leyte and Camarines Sur as the initial coordinating actions since these areas can provide COVID-19 testing.
To avail the program, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Ramon Cualoping III said interested applicants can visit www.balikprobinsya.ph and for those who do not have access to the internet, they can apply to the barangay centers for manual application. One can also visit the program's Facebook page, Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa program.
Providing transportation, housing, and livelihood assistance to help those who want to go back to their home provinces or region, the BP2 will be piloted in Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon in Region 10. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
