Arriving domestic passengers at MCIA must have complete documents

CEBU, June 15 (PIA) -- To prevent the hassle of being denied to board the aircraft, all domestic passengers arriving via the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) are reminded to check whether they possess the complete documentary requirements at their port of origin and upon arrival at the MCIA.

The requirements are in compliance with the regulations of the provincial government of Cebu and the local government units (LGU) of the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapulapu, stated the GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC), the private entity that operates the MCIA passenger facility, in a press release.

For returning overseas Filipino workers, three documents are needed - passport, Quarantine Certificate stating the completion of 14-day facility-based quarantine with negative PCR test results, and ID as proof of residence.

The negative PCR test result is required under Executive Order No. 17 series of 2020 issued by Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia.

Locally stranded individuals (LSIs), on the other hand, need to present the following requirements: Medical Certificate from the municipal or city health officer where the LSI was stranded, Letter of Confirmation from LGU of destination under Cebu province (this is not required for the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapulapu), and travel authority from Joint Task Force COVID Shield.

LSIs also cover those non-OFWs and OFW applicants who are unable to leave the country who want to return to their home provinces.

Also classified under LSIs are Flipinos or permanent resident visa holders who have returned to the Philippines.

For persons traveling for medical reasons, they need to present the following documents: Certification from LGU of residence for purpose of travel, Certification from Cebu Provincial Government (not required for the tri-cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapulapu), and Medical Certificate from health center of the LGU where he or she is a resident.

Persons travelling for permitted work or business must present five documentary requirements: round trip plane tickets, company ID or proof of profession, Certificate of Employment stating the purpose of travel, Travel Authority from the JTF COVID Shield except APORs (Authorized Persons Outside of Residence), and Certification from the Cebu Provincial Government (if destination is under the province).

The GMCAC further stated that leisure travel is still prohibited and also not allowed are those below 21 years old and 60 years old and above, as well as pregnant women.

A government’s information and assistance desk is available at the MCIA Airport Village for passengers seeking assistance.

The desk is manned 24/7 by representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Interior and Local Government 7, and certain LGUs.

GMCAC likewise reminded passengers to continuously monitor the status of their flights, and to always check the necessary documents required in compliance with the regulations and guidelines of the LGU of their port of origin and destination. (fcr/PIA7)
