SINISTER SIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN "NERVE"

SINISTER SIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA EXPOSED IN "NERVE"                   Emma Roberts and Dave Franco star in "Nerve," a timely edge-of-your-seat thriller and a razor-sharp examination of the seductive power of social media.                    Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, best known for their work on "Catfish" and the "Paranormal Activity" series, who have created an action-packed urban adventure that also offers keen insights into online behavior.                   Based on the popular young-adult novel by Jeanne Ryan, the game of "Nerve" introduces a pool of young thrill-seeking players who accept increasingly risky dares from anonymous watchers to win valuable rewards. Duterte Presidency off to an excellent start

“The mandate is clear and unequivocal: It is mandate for change, and government cannot be stopped from its promise of reforming society by getting rid of drugs, criminality and corruption.” Thus said Communications Secretary Martin Andanar in reaction to the June 24-June 27 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey which shows a whopping 84% of Filipinos trust President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Andanar added, “This is a positive sign. It is very encouraging to know that people trust the President, more heartwarming for the President is the fact that the young people of this country entrust their future to his able leadership.” The President enjoys the highest “excellent” public trusting among 18-24 years old. The President’s overall net trust rating increased by 53 points from the moderate +26 taken last May. “People’s expectations are high. They have placed their and the country’s hope to the President making Mr. Duterte the People’s President.” “Everyone, from the President down to

Look Back: Inaugural address of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte

INAUGURAL ADDRESS OF HIS EXCELLENCY RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE  PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ June 30, 2016, Rizal Ceremonial Hall, MalacaƱan, Manila ] President Fidel Ramos, sir, salamat po sa tulong mo making me President; President Joseph Ejercito Estrada; Senate President Franklin Drilon and the members of the Senate; Speaker Feliciano Belmonte and the members of the House of Representatives; Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court; His Excellency Guiseppe Pinto and the members of the Diplomatic Corps; incoming members of the Cabinet; fellow workers in government; my fellow countrymen. No leader, however strong, can succeed at anything of national importance or significance unless he has the support and cooperation of the people he is tasked to lead and sworn to serve. It is the people from whom democratic governments draw strength and this administration is no exception. That is why we have to listen to the murmurings of the peop

Statement on the viral media of Sen Leila de Lima with Alleged Drug Lords

The viral video showing Sen de Lima singing was actually taken during her own bday party at the DOJ quadrangle last Aug 2015. The person who was claimed to be drug lord Colangco is really Cong. Alfred Vargas, who was one of the guests. Others who attended were emcee Imelda Papin, Usec Jovy Salazar (shown at the foreground of the video), and DOJ employees. In another maliciously circulated photo in Facebook claims Senator de Lima to be singing in a bday party of a drug lord. Photo was actually taken during campaign supporter Zaldy Aquino's birthday concert in Zirkoh last December 28. This may be verified with the file videos and record of Zirkoh.

Statement of Senator Leila M. de Lima on the SC decision dismissing the plunder case versus former President Arroyo

I have yet to get hold of a copy of, and study the Supreme Court decision dismissing the plunder case of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. I understand from media reports that the High Tribunal found that there was insufficiency of evidence presented by the prosecution at the Sandiganbayan to supposedly sustain a guilty verdict. The case dismissal is unfortunate; it was handed down as it is at a time when anti-corruption efforts in the Philippines have been receiving accolades from all over the world. While we have yet to ascertain and assess the full effect of this decision, I am one hundred percent sure that this is demoralizing or disheartening to most of us, to say the least, as it delivers a huge blow to all our initiatives. I am confident that the Ombudsman will study closely this decision, with the end in view of seeking a reconsideration. In the meantime, I remain steadfast and firm in my lifelong advocacy through my legislative work and private endeavors in supp

The Philippine flag - All you need to know

HISTORY On May 28, 1898, the Philippine flag was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan, Imus, Cavite. The national flag was yet to be formally announced on the day of that battle. It was formally presented to the people on June 12, 1898. From 1919, when the Philippine flag was once more legalized, until 1940, Flag Day was observed in October, the date the Philippine Legislature had restored the flag. From 1941 to 1964, Flag Day was commemorated on the date the national flag was unfurled in Kawit: June 12. Learn more  here . SYMBOLS IN THE PHILIPPINE FLAG Aside from the Masonic influence on the Katipunan, the design of the Philippine flag has roots in the flag family to which it belongs—that of the last group of colonies that sought independence from the Spanish Empire at the close of the 19th century, a group to which the Philippines belongs.
