ATTENTION: all those who joined us (the different sector groups, organizations, teams, individuals, families, etc) from the past activities (Rally, Pine for Pine, Jericho Walk) to join us again in solidarity for saving the 182 trees on Luneta Hill. Let us gather at City Hall. This time, it is now our voices that will be heard and for us to be seen. WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED. Bonus features: SM reps will be there, too. LET THEM SEE US!!! LESGOOOO!!!! BRING YOUR SIGNS, BRING YOUR PLACARDS, WEAR OUR COLORS, BRING YOUR PETS, BRING YOUR MOMS, DADS, KIDS, BRING YOUR NEIGHBORS, BRING YOUR VOICES AND MAKE YOUR STAND!!! GOOD LUCK TO OUR SPEAKERS AND OUR LAWYERS!!! MAY THE MAKER AND HIS AIDES BE WITH US AND PROTECT US!!!
Why does it seem like the City Council is acting dumb about the SM lot issue when it conducted a two year investigation in 2007 about it and recommended that the national government hold in abeyance any deed of conveyance in favor of SM? Join the discussions here :

Anti-Aquino sentiment spreads across INC

Here's another trending topic courtesy of Rappler : He doesn’t closely follow the news, but 17-year-old Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) member Michael (not his real name) has recently formed a bad impression of President Benigno Aquino III, thanks to friends who work in INC. “Marami po akong naririnig na marami po siyang kapatid na tinatanggal po sa mga puwesto sa pamahalaan,” said Michael, referring to their brothers and sisters in the influential religious organization. (I hear a lot of stories about him removing our brothers and sisters from government offices.) From the INC, 2 prominent members recently find themselves in the news – axed National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) chief Magtanggol Gatdula and lawyer Serafin Cuevas, who heads the defense team of impeached Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona. Aquino sacked Gatdula in January for an alleged kidnapping and extortion attempt involving a Japanese woman, while the President is also at the forefront of the campaign to remove

Here's another trending topic on the internet courtesy of Danger Signs : Pnoy must be really going CRAZY. And his DICTATORIAL inclinations are CLEARER THAN EVER. Pnoy is now OPENLY CALLING for TROUBLE or DISORDER. In his speech at the commemoration of the 26 th  anniversary of EDSA 1, Pnoy CATEGORICALLY asked the people to TAKE ACTION against the judiciary, emphasizing ”Let us now move before it’s too late.” Only a MENTALLY SICK head of state would want DISORDER in the country he rules, especially if it’s only because HE’S NOT GETTING WHAT HE WANTS form the target. And, I hate to say this, only an IDIOT would believe that what Pnoy meant was prayers or some other religious act to attack the Judiciary, and oust the obvious target, Chief Justice Renato Corona, with the impeachment trial still UNFINIHSED. Shame on Malacanang if it will have the STOMACH, and the FACE, to do so. Pnoy’s call for action reveals VERY ALARMING facets of his character, First anf foremost, he DOESN’T REALLY R

Save the 182 trees on Luneta Hill, Baguio City

Luneta Hill was where the famous Pines Hotel once stood.  Luneta Hill is one of the very few remaining forested areas in Baguio's Central Business District, and is home to mature pine trees, which Baguio is famous for, and other tree species that continue to provide breathable air in the otherwise already heavily-polluted Central Business District. It also helps in containing water preventing the flooding of lower-lying areas in the vicinity.  Luneta Hill is where a mall, SM City Baguio, was built which opened in 2003. SM has since been enjoying a very huge market share, displacing a lot of smaller businesses in the city. Despite this advantage, SM City Baguio wants to expand, which would affect 182 mature trees in the area. While they claim that they will not cut any of the trees and will instead "earthball" them to be transferred somewhere else, and that what they're building is a "green building," the environmental impact of their expansion plan will grea

After a career that began with romantic comedies like “Princess Diaries 2” and “Just My Luck,” roles in Tony Scott’s “Unstoppable” and JJ Abrams’ re-boot of “Star Trek” as Captain Kirk have seen Chris Pine move into more action roles. With McG’s “This Means War,” he gets to combine both comedy and action as FDR, a  CIA  operative using all of his agency’s resources to fight a fellow agent, Tuck (Tom Hardy), over the love of a woman (Reese Witherspoon).             “This Means War” is about two of the world’s top spies who’ve been partners and best friends for many years. Through a series of circumstances even they couldn’t anticipate, they fall in love with the same woman,” says producer-screenwriter Simon Kinberg. “FDR and Tuck decide they’re both going to date Lauren and see which one she chooses.  As each begins to fall for Lauren, they get increasingly competitive and employ their spy tactics and techniques to sabotage each other.  Lauren, who just wanted to find the right guy, has

Reese Witherspoon is in a squeeze choosing between today’s most-sought leading actors Chris Pine and Tom Hardy in the riotous and hilarious romantic comedy “This Means War.”             Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon tackles her first action role in This Means War, where the love of a woman turns best friends and super-spies Tuck (Tom Hardy) and FDR (Chris Pine) into rivals, using all the hi-tech tools and muscle at their disposal to wage an epic battle. Lauren, who from being recently dumped and dateless comes across two of the hottest and charming guys she has ever met.  Unknown to her, FDR (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) are the CIA’s best secret agents and have been friends since childhood.  FDR and Tuck then made a gentleman’s agreement to hide the truth from Lauren and let her choose the best man.  What happens is a series of outrageous tactics to help prevent Lauren from falling in love and sleeping with the other.             “It’s every woman’s fantasy to have two unbelievably hot, se

Chelsea Handler in THIS MEANS WAR

Currently invading the international mainstream audience and slowly carving her way as a household name is Chelsea Handler who plays the no-holds barred best friend of Reese Witherspoon in “This Means War.”             So far this year’s most enjoyable and hilarious romantic-action comedy to beat, “This Means War” is about two best friends, the best CIA agents use their incredible skills against each other in order to win a woman’s love.  Playing the trio trapped in the riotous fray of friendship and love are Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.              Injecting an outsider’s view of the trio’s fray is Chelsea Handler whose character Trish is Lauren’s (Witherspoon) best friend.   The inimitable talk show host, comedienne actor and author Handler intimates on her role as herself except that she’s single in real life.  “Trish is basically me, but married,” says Handler.  “Trish is not the best advisor, but Lauren needs her to provide a jolt of energy. Trish is a wife and mo

One Voice: Save 182, Save All Trees in Baguio at Baguio City Hall

By Michael A. Bengwayan Mga kababayan kong nagmamahal ng kalikasan at ang siyudad ng Baguio, Tomorrow, February 20, members of the Baguio City Council has finally decided to give us all a chance to be heard since I wrote them last January 24. For this, we are thankful because our plea did not fall on deaf ears. In my letter to them, through City Council Presiding chairman and Vice Mayor Hon. DANIEL T. FARINAS, I explained the reasons: 1. Why a tree cutting and/or an earth-balling permit should not have been given to SM by DENR, 2. Why earth-balling is no different from a death sentence, 3. The ecological, cultural and social importance of the trees, and; 4. Why the building permit given to SM should be cancelled or recalled. I then concluded by requesting the City Council to craft a resolution to request DENR to cancel the tree cutting and/or earth-balling permit and equally request for the cancellation of the building permit. In tomorrow's Council meeting, I will be asked once aga
