Clash of the Titans Synopsis and Full Trailer

The gods of Ancient Greece were immortal.  Endowed with supernatural powers, the breathed the rareified air of Mount Olympus, lived on ambrosia and nectar and were worshipped by the mere mortals who dwelt on the plains below and built temples to their honor. Love and charity were not necessary part of the lives of these super-beings-they frequently betrayed their god-like attributes.  Benevolent, vengeful contrary and bawdy, they quarreled and fought for power and pursued selfish aims,  In fact, they were almost human. Persius, son of Zeus, could be considered an immaculate start to any man's life, but not when your father's philandering has upset a fistful of gods as powerful as Hera, Athene, Thetis and Aphrodite.  Persius was to experience the vagaries of the humor and temper of the gods. CLASH OF THE TITANS tells of Persius' battles to win the hand of beautiful Andromeda.  The gods look down and help or hinder according to their whims, as Persius, aided by Pegas

80 PGH doctors go on mass leave

Eighty doctors of the Philippine General Hospital have gone on mass leave to protest the removal of Dr. Jose Gonzales as PGH director and the installation of Dr. Eric Domingo as new PGH chief. Dr. Jonas del Rosario, head of the Laban UP-PGH Movement, said the group has filed a petition for a temporary restraining order before a Quezon City court to protest Gonzales' removal. Del Rosario said Dominngo was appointed and sworn in as director without due process. He added that their 2-week leave involving faculty members and consultants will not paralyze hospital operations. "We are not paralyzing operations. The patients will be attended to and their needs met," he said. The UP-PGH administration, meanwhile, assured the public that services at the Philippine General Hospital will not be hampered by the mass leave. Dr. Mike Tee, PGH spokesman, said the UP College of Medicine and PGH have around 650 common faculty members including 100 medical specialists, 580 medi

Ricky Martin: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man"

Here is Ricky Martin's  full statement regarding his admission at he is gay: A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And thisis something worth celebrating. For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that’s the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It’s my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don’t ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I’m at right now.

Gordon wins UP system-wide mock polls

Bagumbayan presidential candidate Sen. Richard Gordon is the top choice as the next President of the Philippines according to the recently-concluded system-wide mock elections of the University of the Philippines. Gordon, a graduate of the UP College of Law class 1975, was elated with the results, stressing that such mock polls challenge the results of pre-election surveys conducted by survey firms. “I’m happy because this is not a survey, it’s a mock election. And it is in mock elections like this where you can see the real pulse of the voters. This is much different from surveys, where you don’t know who commissioned it, what questions were asked and what was the methodology used,” he said. With his impressive track record in public office, Gordon was chosen by the majority of the voters from the various UP campuses. Based on the final results of the mock polls titled Botong Isko 2010, which was conducted from March 18-25, Gordon got 1,236 votes (31.23%). He was follo

To rivals who backed out of Harapan tandem debate: “You cannot handle the pressure of facing the people’s questions”

Bagumbayan Party presidential bet Sen. Richard J. Gordon expressed disappointment with his fellow candidates who backed out of ANC’s Harapan tandem debate. Gordon pointed out that candidates who refuse to face questions from the people and from their fellow candidates are afraid that the public might see the reality behind the television ads. “I’m sorry na nangyari iyan. Ang kaibahan ng eleksyon ngayon ay kailangan ipakita ng kandidato yung kakayahan nila. Hindi lang yung kakayahan nilang gumastos ng pera o kakayahan nilang gamitin ang impluwensiya ng kanilang pamilya,” he said when asked to comment on candidates who backed out of the debate. “Kung hindi humarap ang kandidato ibig sabihin hindi niya kaya ang pressure na humarap sa mga tanong. Siya ay naniniguro na siya ay mananalo dahil sa ginagawa nilang pag-kondisyon sa utak ng mga tao na siya ay panalo na,” he added. The Bagumbayan standard-bearer stressed that it is a big mistake on the part of those candidates because

Christian Bishops support Gordon’s campaign for good governance

Bagumbayan presidential bet Sen. Richard Gordon has gained the support of members of the Christian Bishops and Ministers Association of the Philippines (CBMAP) in his campaign for good governance. Gordon signed a covenant with the Christian organization led by its chairman, Bishop Benjamin Ramos, during the CBMAP Presidential Forum at the Manila Yacht Club. Among the presidential candidates, it was only Gordon who attended the event. “I agree with what is written in this covenant. But do you agree, as well, to campaign with me for good governance?” Gordon asked the CBMAP members after signing the covenant. The response was a loud “Yes” from the members, who also prayed over the Bagumbayan presidential bet. The covenant which the two parties signed primarily states that Gordon, when elected President, shall seek God’s will and wisdom in carrying out his plans and decisions as the leader of the country; while the CBMAP shall support him by strengthening the moral fiber of the

ABS-CBN's Statement Regarding MTRCB’s 1 Month Suspension of ‘Showtime’

The decision was not totally unexpected. The MTRCB committee hearing the case could not have contradicted the Chairman who had earlier issued a preventive suspension order of Showtime. ABS-CBN questioned the validity of the preventive suspension order and filed a complaint with the Ombudsman against the MTRCB chairman for violation of the anti-graft and corrupt practices act. The MTRCB decision is not final and executory. ABS-CBN disagrees with the decision and will appeal such to the Office of the President. Meantime SHOWTIME goes on!

Statement of ANC on MTRCB's X-rating of 2 amBisyon 2010 films

Two of AmBisyon’s films, directed by internationally acclaimed filmmakers Jeffrey Jeturian and Brillante Mendoza, were rated X yesterday, March 25, by the MTRCB. Jeturian’s film focused on the state of the economy. His camera follows a newspaper from the time it is delivered to a homeowner to when it is used to wipe feces from the foot of a cart-pushing vendor. Jeturian uses a newspaper printed with the same controversial advertisement that came out in early January trumpeting the administration’s economic successes. The film, called “Ganito tayo ngayon, Paano na tayo bukas?” ends with President Arroyo’s photo on the crumpled newspaper. The film was X-rated for “undermining the faith and confidence of the people in government.” Mendoza’s film, “Ayos Ka” is a music video whose hopeful soundtrack is a stark contrast against images of poverty, prostitution, drugs and murder. The MTRCB claimed Mendoza’s film is “injurious to the prestige of the Republic of the Philippines and

Only 6% of applicants get jobs in call centers: BPAP

MANILA, Philippines - Call center jobs will be harder to find for those who are not prepared. Data from an industry group showed that out of every 100 applicants in a call center, only a handful are able to make it to the final cut. About 3% to 6% of aspiring call center agents are able to land a job, data from the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) showed. The bleak figure has caused concern among call center recruitment managers in the country. "The quality [of call center agents] I can say is not as good as years before like on our end," Vincci Lara, talent acquisition manager of E-Performance, told ABS-CBN News. According to Lara, this may be traced to the lack of quality education in most colleges and universities. With a number of students not taught well in school, they tend to end up with poor English speaking skills. "We've observed that the number one cause of the low hiring rate in call centers is the poor quality of educ

Vatican defensive as pope targeted in child abuse scandal

Agence France-Presse | VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI will not be weakened by abuse scandals rocking the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican said Saturday, amid mounting criticism of his handling of predator priests. The Vatican, which dismissed a New York Times report Friday that Benedict had failed in 1980 to stop a priest accused of sexually abusing children, put up a brave front amid mounting criticism in newspapers and magazines. "The recent media attacks have without doubt caused damage," Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told Italy's ANSA news agency. "But the authority of the pope and the commitment of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith -- the Church's morals watchdog once headed by Benedict -- against sex abuse of minors will come out of this not weakened but strengthened," he said. The way the Church dealt with the issue "is crucial for its moral credibility", he conceded. The defence came as one newspaper labell

Hindi Sayang ang Boto mo kay DICK GORDON

Our votes on May 10 will determine the path our country will take far beyond the six years that the next President will stay in office. Our people have suffered for many decades because of poor leadership tainted by corruption and greed. Our development has been stunted because of the politics of vengeance that the self-righteous have employed. It is time for a leader with a proven record of change. Now is not the time to experiment with our country. Everyone is complaining that the country finds itself in a life and death situation. Let me ask you this -- if your life depended on a critical open heart surgery procedure, which doctor would you ask to actually perform the procedure on you? The one who owns the most expensive, best equipped hospital in the country but who leaves a trail of malpractice suits? The general practitioner who has an excellent bedside manner and who comes from a long line of well-respected doctors, but who has never performed the procedure before?

ABS-CBN: Bar exam results out Friday

MANILA, Philippines - The fate of the more than 5,903 law graduates from 109 law schools who took the 2009 Bar Examination will be known on Friday. At a press briefing, Court Administrator and spokesman Jose Midas Marquez confirmed that the Supreme Court will hold a special en banc session on Friday to deliberate on the passing percentage for last year’s bar examinations. Marquez said 2009 Bar examinations chairman Associate Justice Antonio Eduardo Nachura will present the results of the Bar to the Court en banc for deliberation and then decide whether to make adjustments or not on this year’s passing percentage “There are 5,903 law graduates who took the bar exams, and it would depend on the discussion during the session of the Court en banc on how many will pass, what percentage of the 5,903 applicants or examinees will pass the bar exams,” Marquez said. Marquez added that Nachura will also make a report on whether or not the Court should continue with the experiment of h
